These sales figures suggest that the S-Preso has become the best-selling SUV after Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza. Vitara Brezza has sold 10,227 units in the same month.

It is fiercely contested in the Indian market with the Renault Kwid. Maruti Suzuki’s S-Preso is a mini SUV and is listed in the SUV section by the company website. The biggest reason for the sale of the S-Preso is its styling, higher ground clearance of up to 180 mm and affordable pricing. Its price starts at Rs 3.69 lakh.
The S-Preso is mostly based on other Maruti cars, including the WagonR and the Ertiga. It is based on the company’s Hartect platform, which uses high tensile, lightweight steel to reduce its weight and be able to deliver higher mileage. Not only this, Maruti’s S-Preso is a light car, whose weight is less than Maruti Alto.

Maruti S-Preso has a 3-cylinder 1-liter K-series petrol engine, which conforms to BS6 standards. This engine generates power of 67bhp and torque of 90Nm. In this, the company has two gearboxes – a 5 speed manual and a 5 speed automated manual transmission (AMT). The ARAI certified mileage of the S-Preso is 21.4 kmpl of the manual variant, while the automatic version has a mileage of 21.7 kmpl.
Talking about safety, a driver airbag, seat belt reminder, ABS, reverse parking sensors and speed alert are standard in all variants in the S-Preso. Apart from this, additional passenger airbags have been given in the top model. Speaking of convenience, power steering and air conditioning are standard in the car. The higher model also has an infotainment system that is equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
