Stock Market: The stock market fell, the Sensex dropped 104 points and the Nifty opened at 11077 level: The Indian stock market started with a downward trend today due to weak signals from global markets. The Sensex fell 104.92 points, or 0.28 per cent, to 37,476.99 at the start of trading and the Nifty opened 32.20 points or 0.29 per cent at 11,077.45.
Small-midcap stocks mixed
Today, smallcap and midcap stocks are seen mixed with heavyweights in today’s business. The BSE smallcap index is trading 0.30 per cent down and the midcap index is up 0.08 per cent.
Banking shares fall
Bank and metal stocks are seeing a decline. The metal index of the Nifty has fallen by 1.09 percent. The Bank Nifty index is trading 319 points down to the level of 28112. At the same time, the IT index is trading down by 0.53 per cent.
State of international markets
Asian markets are seeing weakness. But SGX NIFTY is trading with an edge. The Japanese market Nikkei is trading 244.31 points, or 1.18 per cent, down at 20,440.51, SGX Nifty is trading 36.50 points, or 0.33 per cent, at 11,126.50. Today, Straits Times is seen at 25,469.17 with a weakness of 0.89 per cent and Hangseng 355.55 points i.e. 1.38 per cent.
