Films will no longer be leaked online, Delhi HC rein in this website

Internet service providers (ISPs) have been instructed by the Delhi High Court to block several websites that run sites of pirated films under the Internet. TamilRockers, Catmovie and LimeTorrent are accused of unauthorized streaming and distribution of films and TV series of production houses such as Warner Bros., Universal and Netflix.

Let us tell you that in a recent interim order by Justice Sanjeev Narula, Internet service providers have been instructed to close all the URLs and IP addresses of these websites. Whereas the URL (Universal Resource Locator) is the address of a website on the Internet.The court has also directed the Department of Telecommunications and the Ministry of Information Technology to cancel the registration of domain names of websites that violate the copyright of production houses. Not only this, Internet and telecom service providers should be issued necessary notification to close these websites.

While this interim instruction has been given by the Delhi High Court on the petition of America’s entertainment company Warner Brothers. Also, the company argued that such websites without any permission, as well as streaming original content of platforms like UTV, Star, Netflix.
