Yeddyurappa met PM Modi on Karnataka floods, said- this is the worst tragedy in 108 years
BANGALORE: Karnataka CM and veteran BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa met PM Narendra Modi on Friday in the capital Delhi and requested PM Modi to release immediate financial assistance for relief operations in flood-hit Karnataka. PM Modi has assured to send a central study team in the state to assess the damage.
Karnataka CM Yeddyurappa told reporters here that he had a long and meaningful conversation with PM Modi regarding his meeting with PM Modi. He said that on our request, PM Modi has asked to send a Central Study Team soon to assess the damage in flood affected Karnataka. He said that we requested for the release of financial assistance from the Central Government to provide immediate relief to the people who are facing the tragedy of the flood.
Yeddyurappa said that PM Modi gave assurance of action after discussing this with the officials concerned. Yeddyurappa said that Karnataka is in the grip of the worst disaster in the last 108 years. According to an estimate, more than 40 thousand crore rupees have been damaged by the floods. He said that the Prime Minister has been made aware of the situation arising out of floods in the state.
