MNS President Raj Thackeray said
MNS President Raj Thackeray said on Tuesday that he would honor the summons sent by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). During this, he also appealed to his supporters to remain calm. In his first reaction to the issue, Thackeray said in a signed statement addressing all MNS workers that countless cases have been filed against him and the workers since the party’s inception in March 2006.
After the notice, Raj’s cousin and ruling ally Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray came out in his support. The ED has issued a summons to Raj Thackeray in connection with the investigation of a case and asked to appear on Thursday. Uddhav Thackeray expressed his indirect support to media persons at his residence saying that nothing will come out of the ED by questioning him (Raj Thackeray). Uddhav said, “I don’t think the ED’s questioning of him (Raj Thackeray) tomorrow will yield any result.”
The ED had on Sunday issued a notice to Thackeray and his former business aide, former Lok Sabha Speaker and ruling colleague Unmesh Joshi, son of Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi, as well as another business associate. After this there was a panic in political circles. Significantly, the ED has asked Thackeray to appear in his office on Thursday in a money laundering case related to IL&FS.
