Maharashtra Elections 2019: NCP MLA Dilip Sopal and former Congress MLA Dilip Mane join Shiv Sena: Six-time MLA Dilip Sopal formally joined the Shiv Sena in the presence of Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday. A day before, he resigned as NCP MLA. Apart from Sopal, former Congress MLA Dilip Mane and Congress leader Nagnath Sirsagar also joined the party.

Sopal won from Bershi seat in Solapur district in the 2014 assembly elections. On Monday, he had announced to quit the NCP led by Sharad Pawar. After Sopal joined Shiv Sena, NCP state president Jayant Patil said, ‘Sopal has spent his entire life in NCP. Now that the election phase has come, he has knocked on Thackeray’s door. After all, how will people believe you?

On the other hand, while welcoming Sopal and other leaders to join the party, Uddhav Thackeray said that leaders of other parties are being included in the party only after consulting local leaders. He said, “We have not kept anyone in the dark about this political decision.”
