Former President Pranab Mukherjee Nanaji Deshmukh Bhupen Hazarika to be awarded with Bharat Ratna: Former President Pranab Mukherjee will be honored with the highest civilian award Bharat Ratna on 8th August. It has been announced in a statement issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan. Apart from 13th President Pranab Mukherjee, this award will be posthumously given to social worker Nanaji Deshmukh and Assam famous singer Bhupen Hazarika. All three were selected for this honor in January 2019.

Following the announcement of Sman, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Pranab Mukherjee. He tweeted, “Pranab da is an excellent politician of our time. He has done the country’s selfless and relentless service for decades and has left a strong impression on the development path of the country. He was happy to know that Pranab Da was honored with Bharat Ratna.
Rahul Gandhi Congrats Mukherjee
During this, Rahul Gandhi also congratulated Mukherjee. He said, ‘Congratulations on honoring Pranab da with Bharat Ratna! The Congress party is very proud that public service of our own people and immense contribution to the nation-building has been recognized and respected.
How Many people got Bharat Ratna
So far, 45 persons have been honored with Bharat Ratna since the highest civilian honor. After the announcement of 25 January 2019, this number has turned 48. Last year, the honor was given to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya (posthumous) in 2015.
Nanaji Deshmukh was associated with Jana Sangh
Nanaji Deshmukh was formerly associated with the Jana Sangh. When the Janata Party government was formed in 1977, he refused to become a minister. He has been working for Deendayal Research Institute throughout his life. The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government nominated him a member of the Rajya Sabha. The Vajpayee Government also honored him with Padma Vibhushan.
Hazarika is worshiped in the northeast including Assam
Bhupen Hazarika has tremendous support in the Northeast and especially in the home state of Assam. There is so much reverence for him in the hearts of people that there is a temple in his memory in Guwahati, the capital of Assam. In such a case- the respect of honorable Hazarika will also be seen from the political mirror. Hazarika also sang in Assamese as well as many other languages including Hindi and Bengali.
So far 12 people got posthumous
Initially there was no provision to postpone this honor, but later this provision was added in the year 1955. After that, open the path of giving Bharat Ratna even after posthumous posthumously. So far 12 people have been honored posthumously. However, the number of those who receive posthumous honors can be considered as 11 after the declaration given to Subhash Chandra Bose.
