Farooq Abdullah, NC leaders seen after two months, met in Srinagar: Great efforts are being made to restore peace in Jammu and Kashmir. The leaders of his party National Conference met former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah under house arrest in Srinagar today (Sunday). The permission was given by Governor Satyapal Malik. Farooq and Omar have been under house arrest since the decision on Article 370 on 5 August.

Jammu and Kashmir administration gave permission

The Jammu and Kashmir administration allowed the National Conference leaders to visit Srinagar from Jammu region on Sunday to meet party president Farooq Abdullah and vice-president Omar Abdullah. Former Chief Minister Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah have been under house arrest since Article 370 was removed.

House arrest since article 370

Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Mehbooba Mufti have been placed under house arrest since Article 370 was removed from the Valley. They are not allowed to meet anyone. Please tell that Farooq Abdullah is under house arrest at his residence in Srinagar, while Omar Abdullah is kept in custody at the State Guest House.

Intern arrests in Jammu end

The detention of all political leaders has been ended in Jammu on 2 October, but the leaders are still under house arrest in Kashmir. Leaders of political parties like National Conference, Congress and Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) were released in Jammu. On August 5, these leaders were placed under house arrest as a precautionary measure after repealing Article 370 of special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Significantly, Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference leader Sajjad Gani Lone are still under house arrest.
