Rampur CRPF camp terror attack: four including two Pakistanis sentenced to death, one to life imprisonment: About 12 years ago, six convicts of the terrorist attack on the group center of CRPF were sentenced on Saturday. Four of the six involved in the terrorist attack have been sentenced to death. There are two Pakistanis among them.
Imran Shahzad, Farooq, Sabauddin and Sharif have been sentenced to death in the terrorist attack, while Jung Bahadur has been sentenced to life. Another convict, Faheem, has been sentenced to ten years.
Judge Sanjay Kumar
The court of Rampur Additional District Judge Sanjay Kumar sentenced the six convicts. He was presented in the court today under strict security. There was also a long hearing on the sentence. Six of the eight have been convicted by the court of third Additional District Sessions Judge Sanjay Kumar in the case of terrorist attack on CRPF Group Center, Rampur. The culprits are also two Pakistani citizens. The court did not pronounce a sentence on Friday. In the same case, the two accused were acquitted by the court because they could not be proved guilty.
The CRPF Group Center
The CRPF Group Center was attacked by terrorists at 2.30 pm on 31 December 2007. The terrorists entered inside gate number one of the CRPF Group Center on Delhi-Lucknow route. There is also a railway crossing before the gate. The terrorists also fired bullets and threw hand grenades at the soldiers present at the gate.
After this, the terrorists went to the inside of the CRPF Center’s premises, firing bullets from the AK-47. Seven CRPF personnel were killed in this attack. Apart from this, the driver sleeping in his rickshaw outside the gate was also killed.
Pakistan Occupied Kashmir
Police arrested eight accused of the attack, Imran Shahzad of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, Muhammad Farooq of Punjab province of Pakistan, Sabauddin alias Sahabuddin of Bihar, Faheem Ansari of Mumbai Gore village, Muhammad Kausar of District Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh, Police Station Bahedi of Bareilly district Khan, Jung Bahadur Baba of Milak Kamru village of Moradabad and Muhammad Sharif of Rampur were arrested and sent to jail on 10 February 2008. They were kept in jails of Lucknow and Bareilly in view of security.
The trial witnessed 38, while Faheem Ansari was also convicted in a fake passport and pistol recovery case. The debate in the trial was completed on 19 October. The court ruled on Friday. On Saturday, the court stamped his sentence. Assistant District Government Advocate Amit Saxena said that the court sentenced Pakistan citizens Imran and Muhammad Farooq along with Sabauddin Sabah of Bihar, Sharif alias Suhail of Rampur to be hanged.
Jung Bahadur of Moondapande in Moradabad was sentenced to life imprisonment and Muhammad Sharif of Rampur to ten years. During the sentencing hearing, strict security arrangements were made in the court and the collectorate since morning. Had to undergo condensation check to enter. Apart from this, Gulab Khan of Bareilly and Kausar Khan of Pratapgarh were absolved.
