Actually, the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad, Gujarat state of India has been completed. However, this is not a new stadium. Earlier there was a stadium at this place, which was known as Motera Stadium, but now it has been torn down and rebuilt and it has more seats than Melbourne ground. With this, it will soon achieve the distinction of being called the world’s largest cricket stadium. However, for now it may take another two months, because a match is necessary.
This will be the spectator capacity of Motera Stadium
The stadium, which is going to get the status of world’s largest cricket stadium, has a seating capacity of 1 lakh 10 thousand people, which is ten thousand more than Melbourne Cricket Ground. It has 76 corporate boxes, while 4 dressing rooms, 3 practice grounds, indoor practice pitch, training center and a 55 room club house. Apart from this there is an Olympic size swimming pool, badminton and tennis courts, squash arenas, table tennis area and a 3D projector theater. 700 crore has been spent to build this world class stadium.
Motera Stadium will be ready in January 2020
The Sardar Patel Stadium of Motera is spread over 63 acres. The stadium is designed by the same architecture company that designed the MCG. The work of making this stadium beautiful has now reached the final stage. For the past several years, continuous work is going on in it. It is being said that a T20 match can also be played in it next year.
Facilities like metro are also available
The idea to build this new stadium of Motera came during the tenure of the then Chief Minister of Gujarat and the present Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gujarat Cricket Association vice-president Parimal Nathwani had informed in a statement that metro facility will also be available just 300 meters away from this stadium.
A large ramp has also been constructed for the exit of 60 thousand people from the stadium simultaneously, which will go for the road, metro and parking areas. The entire stadium complex will be illuminated with floodlights. The Mottara ground will be flooded with LED lights to match. Solar power has been used more in this entire complex.
