Sushma Sawaraj Died: India Grieves Demise Of A Remarkable Leader, PM Modi On Sushma Swaraj: Former foreign minister and senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj died on Tuesday night. She was 67 years old. Today at 11 o’clock, Sushma Swaraj’s last darshan can be done at her residence. His body will be brought to the BJP headquarters at 12 noon and she will be cremated at 3 pm.
According to the information, Swaraj was brought to the hospital here at around 9:30 pm and was taken directly to the emergency ward. Doctors at AIIMS said that she died of a heart attack. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the death of former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and said that a glorious chapter of Indian politics has come to an end. PM Modi tweeted that a glorious chapter in Indian politics has come to an end, India is mourned by the demise of an extraordinary leader, who has dedicated his life to improving public service and the lives of the poor. Sushma ji was different in herself and was an inspiration for crores of people.

After Swaraj was admitted to AIIMS, many senior leaders including Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Smriti Irani, Prakash Javadekar reached the hospital. Very happy with the government’s move to end the status of special state of Jammu and Kashmir and divide the state into two union territories, Swaraj tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the evening. Swaraj had tweeted, ‘Narendra Modi ji – thank you Prime Minister. Thanks a lot. I was waiting to see this day in my lifetime.

Modi, in a series of tweets, called Swaraj an extraordinary speaker and outstanding parliamentarian and also said that people of all political parties praised and respected him. PM Modi said, ‘When it came to ideology or the interests of BJP, she did not make any kind of compromise, which was very much her contribution in taking it forward.’ He said, ‘An outstanding administrator, Sushma ji, set high standards in whatever ministry. She played an important role in improving India’s relations with various countries. As a minister, we also saw his compassionate side which helped the troubled Indian in any corner of the world.

President Ramnath Kovind expressed grief over the demise of Swaraj. He tweeted, ‘I am very shocked to know about Sushma Swaraj’s demise. The country has lost a beloved leader who was a symbol of dignity, courage and loyalty in public life. She was always ready to help others. She will always be remembered for serving the people of India.

Significantly, the senior BJP leader was transplanted in 2016 and did not contest the Lok Sabha elections due to health reasons. She is survived by husband Swaraj Kaushal and daughter Flute.
