Today, Fatf Can Blacklist Pakistan’s Future : Washington: The future of Pakistan is to be decided at the FATF meeting in the French capital Paris today. Pakistan has failed to curb terrorist funding, reports Asia Pacific Group, a unit of FATF. It is being told that Pakistan can be blacklisted in this meeting. Pakistan was placed on the gray list at the FATF meeting held in Paris in June last year and warned that by October 2019, it would take action to stop the terror funding.
It is also being told that Pakistan can be blacklisted along with Iran and North Korea. In this meeting, it will be decided that Pakistan will remain in the gray list or it will be blacklisted. However, China will do its best to protect its evergreen friend from being blacklisted. According to a report released by the Asia Pacific Group (APG) on Saturday, chances are high that Pakistan will be placed in the ‘gray list’ as it has followed certain recommendations set by the FATF.
The Pakistani delegation, headed by Hammad Azhar, head of the Department of Economic Affairs, is scheduled to leave for France on 13 October, as the FATF will consider the issue of Pakistan on 14 and 15 October, according to the report of Pakistani newspaper The Dawn.
