Sonia Gandhi: We will win the confidence poll in Maharashtra: Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Friday welcomed the Supreme Court’s order for a no confidence vote in Maharashtra. Sonia Gandhi told reporters that they will win the confidence vote. The court will order a vote of confidence before 5 pm tomorrow.
The apex court said the legislative process should be aired in real time and the confidence vote should be conducted through an open ballot.
The Supreme Court verdict is a setback for the BJP. The Supreme Court dismissed the BJP’s claim that it needed more time to prove its majority. The BJP demanded a two-week time limit for the confidence vote.
The Supreme Court verdict is a relief to the great deal. The Congress-Shiv Sena-NCP alliance had argued in the Supreme Court that they had a majority to form the government and that the BJP government had no majority. The Alliance demanded a vote of confidence soon. The case began on Sunday. The Supreme Court heard the case for two consecutive days.
A grand march to mobilize MLAs was held in Mumbai yesterday. The MLAs staged a demonstration at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Mumbai. The big coalition claimed that they had 162 MLAs. The Great Alliance claims that 162 people arrived at the Hyatt Hotel.
Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray said the MLAs had gathered to show the strength of the Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP alliance. “We have the power to show the light,” Thackeray said, referring to the BJP. “I don’t want to come back. I want to say we are back,” Thackeray said.
NCP president Sharad Pawar said they had the power to form a government and it could. Sharad Pawar also said that Ajit Pawar has no right to whip up.
I am grateful to Hon’ble SC for upholding democratic values and constitutional principles. It’s heartening that the Maharashtra Verdict came on the #ConstitutionDay, a Tribute to Bharatratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar!
