Birmingham 2022: we want india to participate in commonwealth games says british sports minister:
On India’s opposition to the exclusion of shooting from the Commonwealth Games, the British Government said that it wanted the Indian contingent to participate in the 2022 Games in Birmingham.
Britain’s Sports Minister Nigel Adams said the Commonwealth has very important countries and has written to the Commonwealth Sports Federation (CGF) to resolve the matter.
What UK Sports Minister Says
He said, “There is no question that we want India to be here.” He said, ‘We know how keen people are about shooters in commonwealth countries.
I have written to the CGF in this matter and asked if we can adjust the shooting in any other way, perhaps by organizing the Commonwealth Shooting Championship.
IOA boycott Olympic Games
Earlier, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) proposed a boycott of the Olympic Games to be held in Birmingham in 2022 due to the withdrawal of shooting from the Commonwealth Games and sought government approval.
