Karachi will host an international ODI for the first time since January 2009. I would request all the local sports lovers to be a part of the history so that they can tell the next generation that I was present when the international series was played in Karachi.

The Pakistani captain further said, “I can’t wait for Friday any more, it will be a memorable moment.” I hope that when we come to the ground to play the match, the stadium will be packed with spectators and the spectators will cheer both teams.

Tight security arrangements

Tight security arrangements have been made for the visiting Sri Lankan team on the tour. The team has been given the security provided to the Head of State of any country. An elite board of Sri Lankan security experts arrived before the team reached Karachi. After the team arrived at the airport, the players were taken directly to the hotel by bullet-proof bus and car.

Terrorist attack on a Sri Lankan team bus

In March 2009, there was a terrorist attack on a Sri Lankan team bus. Six players of the team were injured in this attack. Six police personnel and 2 Pakistani civilians were also killed in this attack. After this attack, no major team visited Pakistan for the last ten years due to security reasons. The team of West Indies and Zimbabwe toured Pakistan. Even the big players from the Caribbean team stayed out of the team. Apart from this, the ICC organized a three-match international T20 series between the World XI and Pakistan to return to international cricket in Pakistan last year, but even then no team agreed to visit Pakistan. However 10 big players of the Sri Lankan team have not come on tour.

Three T20 Internationals will be played in Lahore from October 5 to 9 after a series of three ODIs from 27 September to 2 October.
