Ranchi’s JSCA Stadium to be named on MS Dhoni: The last match of the 3-match Test series between India and South Africa is being played in Ranchi, home of former captain of the Indian cricket team Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The match is being played at the JSCA International Cricket Stadium. Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar believes that the stadium should be named after Dhoni.
Dhoni, one of the greatest captains of Indian cricket, played India’s stint in world cricket. Because of Dhoni, the name of Jharkhand was successful in making a distinct identity in world cricket. Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar believes that given the achievements of Dhoni, the cricket stadium of Ranchi should be renamed as Mahendra Singh Dhoni Stadium.
Stadium to be named after Dhoni
Gavaskar commented on Dhoni’s achievements in world cricket while commentating on the first day of the Ranchi Test match. He said “This stadium has a pavilion after Mahendra Singh Dhoni but this stadium should be named after Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Ranchi is named on the cricket map because of Dhoni and this is why the stadium Should be named Dhoni. ”
Dhoni is the only captain to win three ICC titles
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has given the Indian team the title of three important ICC tournaments under his captaincy. India won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007, ICC ODI World Cup in 2011 and Champions Trophy in 2013 under the captaincy of Dhoni. Dhoni is the only captain in the world who has captured all three ICC Trophies.
Dhoni has not landed on the field after World Cup
Mahendra Singh Dhoni was last seen playing against New Zealand in the ICC World Cup semi-finals played in England and Wales. Since then, Dhoni is constantly away from the cricket field. Dhoni had decided to stay out of the series played against West Indies and then South Africa.
