Jio users got a shock before Diwali! Now we will not be able to call for free, you will have to pay so much money to Other Operator: Indian telecom company Reliance Jio has announced that now Jio users will have to pay for calling on non-Jio network. 6 paise per minute has been fixed. The company has said that in lieu of 6 paise, Jio will give additional data to the users.
Non Jio calls will pay money
Calling on other networks – that is, you have a Jio SIM and if you call Airtel, Voda or Idea, then you have to pay money. 6 paise per minute.
However, no money will have to be paid for landline calling from Jio to Jio and Jio. The company has introduced four vouchers from which Jio users will have to be recharged. Let me tell you that these vouchers will have to be given despite your monthly plan.
What is the rationale behind Reliance Jio for taking money on calling?
Reliance Jio has said that this money is being invested due to Interconnect Usage Charge, which is the rule of TRAI. Let me tell you that in 2017 TRAI reduced the IUC from 14 paise to 6 paise. Reliance Jio has also argued that the company has paid Rs 13500 crore to Airtel, Idea and Vodafone as IUC charges.
Reliance Jio has said that unless the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India i.e. TRAI does not implement the system of zero termination charge, then calling on non-Jio network will have to be paid and currently the date is till 1 January 2020.
That is, Reliance Jio wants TRAI to eliminate the interconnect usage charge. If this happens, then Jio can start the free call facility for users again.
These are the four top ups that will have to be used and free data will also be available with them
Reliance Jio has named this top up voucher as IUC Top Up voucher. But you do not get confused by this, it is the same as a common top up.
- In the top up of Rs 10, 124 non-live minutes will be given and 1GB data will be available with it.
- 249 non-live minutes will be given in the top up of Rs 20 and with this the company will give 2GB free data.
- With the top up of Rs 50, you will be given 656 non-live minutes and with this you will get 5GB free data.
- With the top up of Rs 100, you will get 1362 non-live minutes and with this you will get 10GB data free.
Significantly, these top up vouchers will be installed in addition to your monthly plan. For example, if you use a monthly Jio plan of Rs 149, then for non-Jio calling, you have to choose one of these four top ups.
What does Airtel say?
India’s big telecom company Airtel has issued a statement on this 6 money calling charge of Jio. The company has said that on 19 September 2017, when TRAI reduced the IUC from 14 paise to 6 paise. Airtel appears to support TRAI’s IUC charge.
Airtel says that in the last three years the telecom industry is in financial crisis and due to this many operators have been bankrupt and thousands of jobs have also been lost. The interconnect usage charge is decided on the call at cost. There are a lot of 2G customers in India and this 6 paise IUC call is much less than the actual call being a call complete.
