POCO separated from Xiaomi, will become a separate brand: Smartphone maker Xiaomi said on Friday that it is going to make POCO a separate brand. The company said in a statement that after this restructuring, POCO will work independently with its team and market strategy. With this, it has been said in the statement that POCO started as a sub-brand of Xiaomi in the year 2018. Then it had a very small team. According to the statement, its first smartphone POCO F1 was a huge success and it is still a very popular smartphone.
POCO made its mark in a short time
Xiaomi’s Vice President and India Managing Director Manu Jain has said that POCO has made its mark in a very short time. Further, he said that this is the right time for POCO to be allowed to operate as a separate company, which is why they are eager to join POCO as an independent brand.
Xiaomi leads the smartphone shipment category with 27.1 per cent in the September 2019 quarter, followed by Samsung (18.9 per cent), Vivo (15.2 per cent), Realme (14.3 per cent) and then Oppo (11.8 per cent).
