World Tribal Day 2019: World Tribal Day or World Tribal Day is celebrated every year on 9 August in honor of the indigenous people present around the world. There are approximately 470 million indigenous or tribal in the total Adam population of the earth. In order to promote the rights of these people, World Tribal Day or World Tribal Day is celebrated.
Purpose of Celebrating the World Tribal Day 2019
The purpose of celebrating this special day is to highlight the contributions and achievements made by tribal communities around the world towards making the planet better. In December 1994, it was decided by the General Assembly of the United Nations to celebrate this day every year for the first time.
According to the United Nations website, the total population of indigenous people is less than 5 percent of the world’s total population, but they are among the world’s poorest 15 percent. They represent 5,000 different cultures.
The United Nations estimates that every 2 weeks, an indigenous language disappears, putting the existence of related indigenous cultures and knowledge systems at risk.
The United Nations has designated 2019 as the International Year of Indigenous Languages to explain and inform people about indigenous languages.
According to the United Nations, the day will inspire people to work in five major areas:
- Increased understanding, cohesion and international cooperation.
- Creating favorable conditions for knowledge-sharing and dissemination of good practices.
- Integrating indigenous languages into a standard-setting.
- Empowering them through capacity building.
- Expansion of new knowledge to promote development.
